Arqadia is a desert resonance eco-retreat that seamlessly merges traditional craftsmanship with 3D-printing technology to create a harmonious, eco-tourism destination.
The retreat’s key feature is its 3D-printed wood canopy roof; the lightweight, bio-composite filament reduces environmental impact by being pre-printed in a local nearby facility, minimising transportation emissions and construction waste. Its ribbed and perforated design allows for natural cooling, providing a comfortable environment while respecting the harsh desert climate. Inspired by the region’s vernacular architecture, the canopy draws on local cultural motifs but reimagines them with modern technology, offering a futuristic aesthetic grounded in tradition. Every material used is locally sourced, further reducing the project’s environmental footprint. The wood-resin composite is designed to endure while maintaining eco-friendliness, aligning with circular economy principles. Visitors are invited to engage with the natural landscape, experience sustainable luxury, and reconnect with nature.
